- Not having any plans for the weekend? Come to watch the second Soirée dansante evening this autumn at Helsingin tanssikeskus. The soirée will be on Saturday (29.11.) and begins at 6pm. The entrance is free and you will have the opportunity to see many different dance styles represented plus enjoy Christmas sweets and participate in a draw with nice gift cards for Casualbutpro.

Cano Monroy is returning to Finland!

Cano, familiar from Casualbutpro's previous summer intensives, will hold a heels workshop on November 27th. Cano is a diverse dancer with over 15 years of work experience. He has performed extensively in his homeland of Mexico, the United States, and Finland. He has worked with brands such as Adidas, at international festivals and to top it off, for artists like Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen and Kaija Koo.

In Cano's workshop we will focus on technique, quality of movement, and musicality. The class is designed for experienced dancers who are fast in learning new movement material. Please arrive in comfortable and safe footwear.

The 90-minute workshop costs 10 euros (only 7,50€ for professionals and students with student-ID). The workshop also includes a free opportunity to perform a short piece of choreography learnt in the workshop at the Soirée Dansante performance at Helsingin tanssikeskus on November 29th (starting at 6 p.m).

- Wednesday's character class will be 20 minutes longer than usual.

- On Saturday and Sunday we are having a free weekend because there are 5 weekends in this month (🥳). We aim to always have 4 full weeks with classes per month to make the months similar. Next week will look more regular again!

- Come and test our variation coaching class this Friday! The class requires an audition which is arranged in a very easy-going way: just attend and show one variation which you would like to be coached in. Our variation dancers are cast to performances with possibilities to perform variations and/or other solo parts.

- We can share that the launch of the spring schedule is just around the corner! There are plenty of new concepts and happenings to look forward to but also many of the current classes will remain. We'll be back soon with more details 😉

- Welcome to this season's first soirée! Held at Helsingin tanssikeskus on Saturday starting from 6pm, our soirées are evenings filled with dance and getting together. The admission is free!

- We are starting rehearsals of Coppelia next Sunday! Coppelia will be our main repertoire for the upcoming performances next spring. At the moment Sunday's repertoire group is full but if you would like to get familiar with Coppelia, we work on the same waltz in the Saturday repertoire class for the next few weeks. If you aren't a part of our repertoire group yet, please sign-up for our waiting list from where you will be admitted to the group after November 16th, 2025. We are eager to welcome new members to our performance group for the performances in spring. You can expect to have a few performances / season.

Emma Sandman is a student of dance pedagogy and education science. During last spring and summer Emma chose to do her internship at Casualbutpro as a part of her pedagogy studies. Emma teaches ballet, kids dance classes, family sports, and gymnastics for students of different ages and levels. Emma has danced ballet since she was three years old, completed her dance diploma at the Sibelius High School and has performed in several performances and events.

Marika Metsovuori is a dance artist, choreographer and dance teacher who has a pedagogical degree in ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance from the Savonia University of Applied Sciences. Currently Marika works as a dance teacher at multiple different schools and teams in the Helsinki area. She has also studied dance abroad, including Boston Ballet and Harvard, and has completed an exchange program in jazz at the KHIO school in Oslo. When she was younger Marika competed in show dance and studied at a high school dance programme.

She has studied at the Royal Danish Ballet School and Finnish National Opera Ballet School and competed internationally before starting her professional career. During her soon-a-decade long career Lyylia has performed classical main roles, had the opportunity to be in the original cast of world premieres and danced in tours, galas, tv and art videos. Besides dancing herself Lyylia has several years of experience in teaching ballet and private coaching as well as producing and organizing dance related courses and events.

Pinja Sinisalo is a professional dance artist and teacher from Helsinki. Since Pinja discovered her love for teaching in 2019, she has been teaching students of all ages and levels in ballet, pointe, repertory and contemporary dance, in Finland and abroad.

We will soon provide you with a full presentation round with each of our teachers but here is a short version of Marika's: Marika Metsovuori is a Finnish dancer, choreographer and dance teacher graduated from Savonia University of Applied Sciences. Currently Marika works as a teacher at several dance schools and sports clubs in the capital region of Helsinki. We are happy that Marika joined our team, too, starting from September 2025.

**We are very sorry to inform that this week's character class is cancelled. We are working on high speed to find a replacement time for the cancelled class.

LAURA VILHONEN

We are very excited to have Laura Vilhonen teaching flamenco at Casualbutpro for the very first time! Read here more about Laura:

Laura Vilhonen began teaching in 1994 and has taught at Flamenco Shop, Helsingin Tanssiopisto, and Helsinki Ballet Academy among others. You might know Laura from the Finnish National Opera Ballet School where she has taught future professionals for over a decade. Furthermore, she has also taught teachers in basic dance teacher training and choreographers in choreography workshops as well as performed as a dancer in various line-ups. Laura has made an expansive amount of choreographies, dance pieces and student performances such as Brisa de esperanza, Poesia de un paso, Movimientos, and Bipolar. Laura is part of the board of Helsinki International Ballet Competition and vice-president at Pro Dance society.

Laura's flamenco classes are on an advanced level so some previous training in flamenco is mandatory. That is why the class is marked as a level 2 class. If you are interested in beginner flamenco, we recommend checking out @helsingintanssikeskus 's webpage and Instagram as the beginner classes are about to begin in early autumn!

Laura is part of the board of Helsinki International Ballet Competition and vice-president at Pro Dance society.

Laura's flamenco classes are on an advanced level so some previous training in flamenco is mandatory. That is why the class is marked as a level 2 class. If you are interested in beginner flamenco, we recommend checking out @helsingintanssikeskus 's webpage and Instagram as the beginner classes are about to begin in early autumn!

Pinja is a dance artist and teacher based in Helsinki. She has 8 years of experience dancing with companies in Europe and the US, performing a variety of repertoire in ballet, contemporary dance, dance theater and operas.

She found her passion for teaching in 2019 while working in New Jersey with Roxey Ballet Company and Mill Ballet School. Eliisa Nenonen is a professional dancer, dance teacher and master degree student in dance pedagogy at the Theatre Academy in the University of the Arts Helsinki (Uniarts Helsinki). Besides her studies Eliisa teaches classical ballet, show dance and character dance at Helsingin tanssiopisto and Casualbutpro. Before studying dance pedagogy Eliisa did her vocational studies at Finnish National Opera Ballet School, worked as a soloist dancer at Opera Comica Pentru Copii in Bukarest, Romania, as well as danced for Tero Saarinen Company and Kuopio City Theatre.

We are excited that Eliisa will be teaching:

Terhi Spackstein has taught Irish dance since 2007 which makes her one of the most experienced Irish dance teachers in Finland. Her experience includes competitions at Nordic and Europe championship levels as well as various productions in Irish dance where she has both worked as a dancer, choreographer and artistic director.

Come and dance with Terhi during week 27 where she teaches fast-paced Irish dance technique! Previous experience in Irish dance is not compulsory - everyone is welcome to our first "test a style" week of the intensive!
