Class descriptions
and levels

Ballet technique (beginner)

In beginner class (60 min) we progress slowly, familiarizing ourselves with ballet basics: posture, standard poses, turnout technique, directions as well as musicality. We use the barre for warm-up exercises and later in class we proceed to centre work where we will learn to use the space and move in various ways.

Prior dance experience is not required.

Ballet technique (intermediate)

Intermediate technique class (90 min) can be described as the all-encompassing but analytical ballet practicing. This class is designed for dancers with a couple of years of experience or more, but prefer a calm progression pace, detailed instruction, and familiarization of new moves.

Ballet technique (advanced)

In advanced-professionals technique class (90 min) we train with professionals and on their level. Class progression is fast-paced and we aim to improve the dancers in various ways: technically, musically and artistically. This class is intended for dancers with multiple years of ballet background and with a burning desire to challenge themselves with long series, varying tempos and challenging movements.

Pointe class (open level)

We start with a thorough barre warm-up, which after we move on to center work. We take differing levels of experience into account, and the series will be modified to fit individually each dancer.

This class is a great continuation straight from advanced-professionals’ technique class or functions as a warm-up before the variation coaching.

Intermediate-advanced level repertoire, performing group

In this class we take a deep dive into the world of classical repertoire! In this repertoire class (60 min) we practice ensemble scenes of large ballet classics in more or less the original structure. Pointe work is encouraged, but it is not a requirement to participate.

In this class you commit to participating in performances, which there will be a few throughout the season. We also offer other opportunities such as performing in competitions and festivals! As set performance dates approach us, additional rehearsals (free of charge) may arise.

This class is held right after advanced-professionals’ technique class on Sundays.

Variation coaching (advanced-professional)

This group is intended for those working on classical variations throughout the season. Our small variation coaching group is great for dance professionals, vocational dance students and those seeking a professional career, but also for any talented dancer, who wants to practise variations.

Our coaching group participates in competitions and shows. Additionally, we coach also for audition purposes.

To join Casualbutpro’s variation coaching class there will be held an audition, in which a maximum of five (5) dancers are chosen to the coaching group. Email us for more information.

Contemporary ballet (open level)

This class is a lyrical and physically multidimensional class that works well as a supplementary session for any dancer who practices ballet, contemporary dance or jazz. The class includes theme-based technical exercises that blend classical ballet and contemporary dance together with strong musicality, expression, and exploration of one’s own range of movement. The class includes a choreography part, too, and these choreographies will be performed at various events organised by Casualbutpro. The class is open to everyone, and its focus is on discovering the dancer’s own strengths and channeling them into comprehensive dance-technical work as well as stage presence and performance skills.

Choreography lab (professionals)

Casualbutpro is created by professionals with one of its intentions being to help other professionals in this field. We wanted to create an environment for professionals to meet and create: a safe space free of charge to be creative in and meet other people within the same profession.

We are excited to welcome all kinds of dancers and choreographers to this lab where we will assist you in creating your dream piece! We will also assist in applying for grants and creating paid performance opportunities. Casualbutpro also offers a few unpaid stage experiences for those interested throughout the season.
